Yesterday, Rosa and Didier traveled to Pakayaku to recognize and assess the damage caused by the rise of the Bobonaza River on March 17 and meet with Pakayaku authorities and members.
Going down the Bobonaza from Canelos to Pakayaku (1h30)
People have started to set up tents with the plastics and to connect parts of the water system with the hoses shipped on Monday 23.
Still many community members have no other option than to drink the water from the Bobonanaza River.
There is a food shortage. It is necessary to send basic products (salt, rice, canned products, etc …). So far no help has come from local governments or another institutions.

We are still looking for ways to support, although the general situation due to COVID-19 makes it difficult to acquire materials (all hardware stores closed and prohibited from selling). We still have not received the safe-conduit requested on March 21 from the National Institute of Popular and Solidarity Economy (IEPS).
Logs fill the mouth of one of the streams, which destroyed the water system
One of the tents set up until house are repaired o rebuilt…
Little by little, more support continues to come. So far we have received donations of $ 1,675.
